Center for Young Musicians is excited to announce that Thomas Maroon, guitar teacher and songwriting specialist, has joined the CYM Faculty. Thomas, a native of Greensburg, PA, started taking piano lessons in 2000, began studying the guitar in 2004, then graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Berkeley College of Music in Boston, MA, earning a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting in 2015. Since graduation, Tom has instructed people of various ages and backgrounds on guitar and ukulele, in the Boston metro area, and locally (Pittsburgh). He has also spent the last six summers teaching music to disabled adults at the Woodlands Foundation Camp in Wexford.
Throughout his musical career, Thomas has been inspired by legendary artists such as Marc Ribot, Django Reinhardt, John Coltrane, and Brian Wilson. We immediately noticed Tom’s quiet, but focused manner with students; his caring nature, professionalism, and skill set present a good fit for our music school. Tom is looking forward to working with students who want to pick up the guitar for the first time, or those who are experienced players: he is ready to help you prepare a particular song, to learn to write songs while accompanying yourself, or to move thorough any number of well-respected guitar technique method books. Welcome Thomas!
