Ukulele Christmas Sing-Along Brings Families Together

There were ten students, ranging from 7 years old to adult: Sami, Aarnav, Audrey, Ella, Carson, Eli, Lily, and Claire, Nolan and Stephanie. Students were grouped into breakout rooms where they alternated between working with Lindsay McGinnis on voice and Mark Marston on ukulele. After 30 minutes in each breakout room, the class got together at the end of the meeting to go through the songs they learned together. In the last class, the breakouts were shortened so everyone could have a carol sing-a-long with others in their household.

Here is what parents said about the course:

The ukulele sing-a-long was such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit! We really enjoyed practicing each week and the timing of the family sing-along right before Christmas was perfect! Carson’s favorites were Feliz Navidad, Silent Night and God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, and since his main instrument is guitar, adding ukulele has been a fun expansion of his skills! He has never taken any voice training outside of school, so incorporating singing was new for him. Carson was not really confident in his singing before, but now he wants to sing! We’re looking forward to more ukulele workshops! – Michelle

Audrey has had a blast in class and has already performed “Up On The Housetop” and “Silent Night” for her family over zoom! – Christian

It was a blast!  At one point we had 4 ukulele’s being played at the same time.  Thanks again! – Nick
