Two New 5-Day Courses Presented in August

A “Learn to Play the Blues” Course, taught by Mark Marston, is open to all guitar and piano students who want to learn to play blues chord progressions and to use these to improvise in many keys. Background and history of blues music and its relationship to other popular music will also be discussed. This course will meet on five consecutive Fridays, from 2:00 – 3:30pm, starting on July 31 and ending on August 28. (Note: Dates for the last two classes of “Learn to Play the Blues” may be adjusted to accommodate the start of any student’s school being in session)

Mark Marston’s “Recording/Chamber Music” Course, is ready too and open to all students, of any instrument. Students will learn how to collaborate online and use the Soundtrap recording software. They will work on an arrangement of Amazing Grace to record as a final project that each student can have as an mp3 file to share with friends and family. Additional literature will be learned and rehearsed, as fits the instrumentation presented by those who sign up. This course will meet on five consecutive Saturdays, starting August 1 and ending August 29. Participants will meet at 10:00am and collaborate until 12:00pm, with individual time scheduled for each student to break out and record their own part.
