Listen in live on December 5th by clicking here to go to WRCT.org or by clicking here to go to SLBRadio.org as CYM students play at the Saturday Light Brigade! Students have been practicing in the trio together since February and are excited to share their hard work with you and all of the SLB’s listeners. These kids have built flexibility as they worked together in a team, and also greatly improved their overall musical ability. If you are interested in playing chamber music, discuss it with your teacher who can match you with other students at a similar skill level.
Have you ever wondered what happens at the Saturday Light Brigade? The Saturday Light Brigade is a public radio program featuring acoustic music and family programming, participatory puzzles and games, and on-air telephone calls from kids and adults. Broadcast since 1978, it is one of the longest-running public radio programs in the United States.
SLB is broadcast live from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (Eastern) on Saturday mornings and airs on WRCT in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, WSAJ in Grove City, Pennsylvania, WNJR in Washington, PA, WCUC in Clarion, PA, WIUP in Indiana, PA, WMCO in New Concord, Ohio, and WOHM in Charleston, South Carolina. SLB is also a member of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters and Association of Independents in Radio.
We’d like to give a special shout out to Ms. Simmi and Ms. Leah for preparing the chamber musicians, and to their parents for supporting the extra practice to get ready for the broadcast; you brought your best to one another through these rehearsals and we are excited to listen to the wonderful results. Thank You and Good Luck!
