Boy playing guitar at home

Play It First

Follow the natural flow of picking out a tune by ear from beginning to end, then return to the start for guitar tricks and techniques – how fun! Tom Maroon motivates new students in Play It First – Guitar because kids choose which song is next in cue to study: he approaches well known pop songs and standards with easy to retain memorization tools so students stay tuned.

Tom says, “I approach each lesson with at least one specific popular song melody or chord progression to teach to students and welcome song suggestions or requests from them as well. We will focus on learning/mastering the techniques required to play the song before I briefly describe the music theory behind what we learned that day. I believe that students will find it particularly rewarding to play songs they know and love. Since these students are beginners, I know that they will most enjoy their newfound ability to play familiar songs for/with their family and friends and subsequently develop a passion for music that they will continue to pursue.”

Bring a friend or sibling and start playing songs you know right away… Flex Start means that you can join soon with a new session that starts at the top of each month. Students will be able to play significant sections of various pop songs by the end of the course. It is best suited for Youth 8 – 10 years old who have never before taken guitar lessons. The course meets on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm for 30 minutes. Tuition is $75.
