Openings for Voice Lessons

Center for Young Musicians has openings for lessons in singing. Why not schedule a four lesson trial for your student! In that time, our voice teacher, Ms. Lindsay, can coach for upcoming auditions, work on a school performance, or just get your student started on the right track!

When you think about it, all music students should have these major goals for their studies: that they can 1) look at a page of music and hear it in their head, and 2) to be able to sing their part! All musicians, of every instrument, should be able to match pitch and sing their music.

This is the perfect time to round out your student’s musical studies. Call or visit the website to schedule a four lesson trial today!

“SING! An Irish Christmas” Comes to Pittsburgh

Bring the whole family to a Christmas concert that will have your foot tapping, and your hands clapping! Imagine favorite carols and songs with fiddlers playing reels, plus a band of instrumentalists, and 200 voice choir singing along with you!

Our own Mr. Rob will be conducting the 200-voice choir for “Sing! An Irish Christmas” which will be held at the Benedum. Some of the choristers are coming from other states just to be a part of this concert. Recently the Gettys asked to add a children’s choir to the program, so our own Ms. Amy has been rehearsing with a 35-voice choir assembled from all over Pennsylvania and Ohio. Come concert time, she will be singing with the choir!

This tour is in its ninth year- and the first for the Pittsburgh area. Other stops in the 2019 tour include Carnegie Hall in NYC, and and Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Keith and Kristyn Getty are from Ireland, and have been writing modern hymns for many years and their music is used in churches world-wide. They also have a passion for children’s music, and music in the home, and have created and published books for children and families to share, as well as song books for churches to use.

From the Getty website- a fascinating fact:

In 2017 Keith Getty was honored as an “Officer of the Order of the British Empire” (OBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The award, which commemorates Getty’s contribution to “Music and Modern Hymn Writing,” marks the first occasion that the award has been given to an individual involved in the world of contemporary church music.

When: Thursday, December 12, 7:30 pm

Where: Benedum Center, Pittsburgh
